Data Science and Analytics Intern

The Data Science and Analytics Intern will play a critical role in supporting the Projects Team by analyzing complex datasets that inform regional and national projects. The intern will contribute to building scalable and maintainable data systems, developing insights through data visualization, and supporting the foundation's research agenda.
Job Roles & Responsibilities:
- Clean, validate, and maintain large and diverse datasets from various public and private sector sources.
- Develop data models and conduct statistical analyses to extract trends and actionable insights.
- Assist in developing interactive dashboards and reports for internal and public consumption.
- Contribute to research briefs and policy reports through quantitative input and visualization.
- Use programming tools such as Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn), R, or SQL.
- Support data governance activities including documentation of data dictionaries, metadata, and data quality standards.
- Stay current on data privacy best practices and ensure all data processing aligns with relevant ethical guidelines.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s or master’s student in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
- Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools (Python, R, Excel, SQL).
Skill Sets Required:
- Strong understanding of statistical methods and modeling techniques.
- Excellent soft skills including communication skills to interpret and present complex data to non-technical audiences.
